Mecca x Diptyque Orphéon Cocktails at Marion, Cutler, Gimlet and More
Mecca and Diptyque have joined forces with some of chef-restaurateur Andrew McConnell’s top venues for bespoke cocktails celebrating limited-edition versions of Parisian fragrance house Diptyque’s popular Orphéon scent.
Featuring notes of tonka bean, jasmine, cedarwood and juniper berries, the perfume is an ode to the legendary late-night bar Orphéon, which famously hummed with jazz music all night in the Saint-Germain quarter of Paris in the 1960s. Warm and woody aromas will transport you to the cosy, sultry nights of the club’s heyday.
While Club Orphéon – an evening of live jazz performers and vinyl DJs at Cutler for one night only on Wednesday March 12 – has sold out, you can still join the waitlist. But you won’t miss out on all the fun, with special cocktails available across the city from Tuesday March 11 to Sunday April 6, transporting you to ’60s Paris wih just a sip.
Cutler’s Carosello cocktail uses gin, Cynar (an artichoke aperitivo), blood orange and sweet vermouth. Apollo Inn is serving Les Vergers, a tall cocktail inspired by the juniper and cedar elements of Orphéon, alongside woody and apple notes, while the Rêverie (a take on the Negroni “with a Gallic twist”) is available at Cumulus Inc. Marion’s Mid Century is inspired by 50/50 Martinis with lacy white jasmine and suble sweetness from vermouth. And you won’t miss any of the action if you’re in Brisbane – Bar Miette is also serving a drink called Chanson, inspired by Orphéon and designed to drink on a riverside terrace.
You’ll get a sample of the Orphéon perfume with every cocktail, alongside a jazz playlist curated by Diptyque so you can continue the vibe at home, in your car or wherever you are. Purchase the fragrance at a participating store and you’ll also receive a bonus Orphéon perfume oil in a stylish Diptyque pouch, perfect for travel.
