Gingers Vintage Lounge Bar

Named after a character from Gilligan’s Island, Ginger’s combines a seventies fit-out with more contemporary ideas, such as free Wi-Fi and a lack of spam in its dishes.

The original cafe took up residence in an old florist, but when demand grew too large for the petite property, the old shoe store next door was bought and transformed into the Ginger’s of today. The space now seats close to 100 people, and is put to good use with local artists featured on a rotating basis, and regular exhibition openings.

The menu features creative takes on waffles, porridge, French toast and burgers with seasonal specials each week.

Coffee is provided by Five Senses, tea is from T2 and there’s a local wine and beer list available. A range of juices and smoothies are made in-house with ingredients from the fruit and veg shop across the road.

This sense of community plays a large part in what Ginger’s is all about: incorporating classic values in a comfortable setting.
