Nature’s Providore is a light-filled cafe that doubles as an upmarket corner store, with wooden crates of fresh, organic fruits and vegetables and shelves packed with products for the health-conscious.

If you’re in need of a little guidance on how to use your newly acquired jar of kimchi or coconut oil, the friendly staff members will gladly offer their expertise. Or you could just look at the brunch-style menu, which uses the same healthy products in creative ways – spelt flour pancakes; gluten-free cakes made with coconut sugar; and roast vegetable salads packed with grains, nuts and crunchy seeds.

If you have a moment to spare, it’s worthwhile pulling up a chair at one of the large shared tables and treating yourself to a freshly squeezed juice or a latte made with organic Paris Creek milk. The interior of the historic building has been freshened up with a coat of white paint and a few potted plants, but has kept much of its original charm with battered wooden floorboards and decorative leadlight trim above the floor-to-ceiling windows.

Be sure to check out what’s on the blackboard specials menu, which features a regularly changing selection of soups, vegetable frittatas and spelt crust pies.
