There’s a wealth of eye-catching features at Public. A 1940s railway station clock imported from London; a "writers" corner’ covered in a wallpaper collage of great literary names; and floor-to-ceiling windows that capture barristers and magistrates en route to the law courts a block away.

Owner Danielle Elia has a background in interior design and created the striking interior with public spaces such as railway stations and libraries in mind.

The menu incorporates pastries and pastas that are made in-house daily, as well as a range of modern Australian bites perfect for the business brunch.

There’s beetroot eggs and polenta salsicce (sausages) to start your morning, and zucchini flowers, ocean trout or crab ravioli to take you to 5pm.

To really lengthen lunch, there’s also a selection of South Australian wines, with a few Champagnes on hand to celebrate a newly struck deal.
