Over four days, more than 70 artists and thousands of music lovers flocked to Botanic Park for the 32nd edition of Womad. The world music festival captivates Adelaideans each and every year, and everyone from newborn babes to senior citizens danced into the night.
This year’s line-up was a return to form for the event, eschewing the mainstream headliners of 2023 – such as Bon Iver and Florence & the Machine – in favour of experimental sets and performances from cult-favourites. Highlights included the prince of reggae himself Ziggy Marley, popular UK singer-songwriter Corinne Bailey Rae and Cymande, a cult ’70s-born funk band.
Venturing away from the main stage, you’d find high-octane performers from all over the world as well as artists performing acrobatic stunts and singing their way through the crowds. Broadsheet photographer Kelsey Zafiridis was there to capture all of this and more at Womad 2024.
