Adelaide labels Good Studios, BB Shoemaker, Emma Sadie Thomson and Council of Objects will join forces this month for a pop-up concept store at Good Studios. It arrives just in time for Christmas, but it’s more than a gift shop.

First and foremost a collaboration between friends, the temporary store focuses on ethical manufacturing processes and sustainability. Anny Duff, owner of eco clothing label Good Studios, says the main difference between their concept store and a standard retail store is customer engagement. “It’s like a mix between an art gallery and a retail space; it’s more interchangeable and open for interpretation.”

Each designer will bring something different to the collaboration. Elise Short of (now closed) Council of Objects will be back with “everything that you love and remember” – ceramics, jewellery, accessories and timber ware. Good Studios will feature a mixture of old and new lines alongside Emma Sadie Thomson’s collection of plants and plant ware. Beccy Bromilow of BB Shoemaker will custom-make shoes to order.

The fusion of the four brands is a sign of mutual support. “We want people to celebrate Christmas a little differently. Seek some independent local retailers who’re doing their bit for the face of Adelaide’s art and design culture,” Duff says

And there won’t be a single Christmas decoration.

The store launches this Sunday, December 11 at 3pm.
