In 2023 Billie Eilish liltingly questioned on her Barbie track: “What was I made for?”
And while we bet you knew Eilish was made for picking up Oscars and Grammys, you might not have known about her secret side gig as an excellent source of plant-based restaurant recommendations.
Ahead of her Hit Me Hard and Soft tour, she shared a list of spots around the world where she recommends people go for plant-based and vegan treats.
Although she skipped Adelaide on her tour (this time), six Adelaide spots made her list. Here’s where she recommends her fans visit.
Allegra Dining Room, Adelaide
The intimate 28-seat dining room serves seasonal plant-based dishes in a 12- or 16-course degustation. Think fermented roots with sesame butter, potato croquettes with watercress and horseradish, watermelon carpaccio with strawberry, and more.
Two-Bit Villains, Adelaide
Nothing is as it seems at Two-Bit Villains. The menu contains items like nachos, hotdogs and burgers, but they all have one carnivorous thing missing. In the Adelaide arcade, the diner was designed as a place where vegans and the vegan-curious could enjoy a meal that doesn't scream “meatless”.
Africola, Adelaide
The diner’s African-ish menu prioritises vegetables. Expect dal and dips, as well as low-intervention wines.
Veggie Vie Cafe, Adelaide
This soul-soothing cafe is entirely vegan with smoothies, tofu scrambles and plant-based burgers.
Lucky Ducks, Aldinga
The vegan diner offers set menus and à la carte dining. Asian flavours sing through dishes like karaage cauliflower, tofu larb, and salt’n’pepper eggplant with bang bang sauce.
Joy of Flora Cafe, West Croydon
A sunny cafe and gallery with an entirely plant-based and vegan menu.
