Kick off the June long weekend with an all-day wine and pizza party.

This isn’t the first rodeo for McLaren Vale neighbours Alpha Box & Dice and Pizzateca. No strangers to a party, they’ve taken the best bits of their past, smaller-scale events and “supersized them” for Slice & Dice, a one-day festival on Saturday June 10.

Each venue will host its own day party to ring in the Queen’s Birthday long weekend, complete with food, booze and live music. The day will be split into two sessions, with punters able to choose their preferred route – Alpha Box & Dice to Pizzateca, or vice-versa. Return coach transfers from the CBD to McLaren Vale are included in the ticket price.

“It’s the kind of long weekend event we’d want to go to,” says Alpha Box & Dice brand manager Lachlan Aird. The winery crew will be pouring from its “alphabet of wines” with a few tinnies thrown in for good measure.

Party band The Uptown Seeds will lead the line-up of musos at Alpha Box & Dice, covering past and present jams, with sets spread over the two sessions. “They’re the ultimate cover band,” says Aird. DJ sets from D-Luxe and Driller will be slotted in-between. Producer Luke Million has also been announced as headliner.

Tiger Mountain will replicate its festival season barbeque pop-up with “a meat option, a veggie option and a plate with chips.”

Down the road, Pizzateca will dish up a “party-pizza vibe” under a pavilion on the front lawns. Naturally, its V. Mitolo & Son wines will be on pour.

The menu “won’t be as simple as at [Royal Croquet Club]”, says owner Tony Mitolo. “[It’s] not just your straight-up Margherita or salami.” The signature charcoal-fired arrosticini (lamb skewers) will be also on offer.

The disco soundtrack will come courtesy of DJs Driller and D-Lux. “They’re old school guys who don’t use USB,” says Mitolo. “We’re going down the 12-inch vinyl, 12-inch pizza route.”

Slice & Dice is on Saturday June 10 at Alpha Box & Dice and Pizzateca. Tickets include return coach transfers from Adelaide CBD to McLaren Vale (with a transfer to the next venue at half-time), your first drink at each venue and a commemorative Slice & Dice glass. Additional drinks and food will be available to buy on the day. For more information visit the Facebook event.
