My Kingdom for a Horse Launches Coffee Subscription Service

Plus monthly public coffee tastings.

When it launched in 2015, My Kingdom for a Horse demanded our attention. It was one of the most ambitious coffee shops we’d seen in Adelaide, complete with a 100-seat dining room, shiny new commercial kitchen, liquor licence and in-house coffee roaster.

The venue now enters a new phase, with the launch of a coffee delivery service curated by its roasting team. “We quietly switched over to our new website last week and we are offering a subscription service for both our espresso lovers and filter coffee drinkers,” owner and head roaster Emily Raven says.

Customers can buy a monthly or fortnightly subscription for MKFAH’s espresso or filter blend. With the launch comes two new lots. “One of them is a very special peaberry from Rwanda,” Raven says. “It’s quite delicate and a unique find as Rwanda is having a lot of trouble with potato defect in their crops at the moment – so I was lucky to find this particular coffee.”

In addition to the subscription service, Raven is inviting customers to explore the world of coffee alongside her team of baristas and roasters, in the form of monthly community “cupping” sessions.

She’s extended the invitation to other roasters too, hoping to foster an open-source community of techniques and knowhow. “Adelaide’s coffee roasting community is growing and there are lots of new, small roasters who are keen to meet others in a casual context.”
