A Taste of Spain at Sunny’s
Another week, another all-in motley spread at Sunny’s Pizza.
This time it’s a triple-header Sunday session with Comida Catering Co and Pirate Life Brewing billed as a “multilingual, multifaceted, polyamorous Spanitalian fiesta”. Confused? So are we.
Expect a selection of “Spanitalian” pizzas and tapas from Comida’s Brad Sappenbergh and the Sunny’s pizzaoli, including a twist on Josh Cook’s Beer Can Chicken – chicken albondingas (Spanish meatball soup) served in a Pirate Life tinnie.
Pizza traditionalists should look away now; Spanish-flavoured pie toppings include ham and pineapple (jamon, vanilla-soaked pineapple and buffalo mozzarella), anchovy (white anchovies, garlic, caperberries and currants) and paella (paella sauce with saffron, paprika and manchego cheese).
Pirate Life will be there to launch its newest beer – a collaboration with San Diego’s Ballast Point Brewing Company and mural artist Steen Jones. The six per cent pale ale is made with US, NZ and Australian hops and finished with finger limes and coriander.
DJs Alfonso Frawls and Ferris will be on music duties.
Sunny’s “Beer Can Chicken Party” is on Sunday September 24 from 2pm until sold out. Walk-ins only.
