Froth and Fodder
When Angela and Chris Davies discovered an abandoned laundromat, they knew they had to make it their own. The Kurralta Park locals had been searching from Semaphore to the Adelaide Hills for a space for their cafe, and they finally found it just two streets from their home.
With the help of family and friends, the pair transformed the space into Froth and Fodder in just five weeks. But it wasn’t a complete strip — they salvaged the dryer pipework to use around the menu board.
The cafe’s community vibe and all-day breakfast are enjoyed by all kinds of customers – local families, nearby SA Power Networks workers and groups of friends. There’s something for those who want something sweet – such as buttermilk pancakes with syrup and ice cream – and savoury, including the Balhannah bacon and egg burger with cheese, spinach and avocado.
The pair has created a down-to-earth local spot filled with comfortable vintage furniture. While you’re sitting on Grandma’s chair or auburn leather couch, you can rest your D’Angelo coffee on a trunk that migrants brought from Naples Transit Camp in the sixties.
