Pavé Cafe sprouted in the cobblestone courtyard of a bike shop in 2012. When Andy and Abbier Ivas took over shortly after, they gave it a roof, constructed walls of stone and timber, and grafted it with lush edible greenery courtesy of The Productive Garden Co.

Pavé remains a popular cyclist haunt, thanks to its bike hooks and signed memorabilia on the walls. But now there’s also a feature wall of repurposed planks from the old Moonta Bay jetty. Outside, a pair of timber crate tables provides extra seating among edible herbs and spices.

The menu is packed with both healthy options and sweets, with suppliers including Rohde's Free Range Eggs, Paris Creek, Goodies & Grains and Paesano Bakery.

Muesli, granola, pancakes and waffles come tucked beneath fresh fruit and colourful petals. The smashed avo on rye is blended with feta, radish and mint. The hungriest omnivore ought to be satisfied by the Pavé Big Breakfast, and at the other end of the scale, littlies are catered for with their very own menu featuring waffles and moo shakes.

Coffee is a custom blend from Rio Coffee, pulled through a matte-black La Marzocco GB5 espresso machine. Choose from almond, soy, coconut or lactose-free milks.
