At midday Adelaide is a frenzy of lines for any place that will hurl out a banh mi in 90 seconds, but Sit Lo attracts the kind of customer who will stick around.

Maybe it’s the striking interior that was inspired by the back streets of Hoi An. Or the mini rickshaws that adorn each table and gave Sit Lo its name. Most likely, it’s the considered ingredients that feature in the banh mi, pho, noodle bowls and baos.

The pho comes in cups of two sizes with chicken or beef. They contain no MSG, which is a point of pride for Sit Lo.

The baos incorporate fillings such as slow-cooked Barossa Valley pork belly, panko-crumbed fried chicken and soft shell crab.

To drink there’s the classic Vietnamese iced coffee, as well as a range of iced teas and sodas from Yeo’s and Nexba.

Sit Lo stands out because it combines the fast-paced, lunch-break-friendly cuisine with an environment that celebrates its culture. There are no fluorescent lights, linoleum flooring or plastic seats for you to pardon as a quirk of the cuisine. Sit Lo’s got style.
