You might mistake Little Fox Lane for a plant shop. Fiddle-leaf figs spill onto the footpath and greenery fills the shopfront. Step inside and you’ll be greeted by one of the three owners – sisters Sara and Emma Davidson or their mother Lisa Davidson.

Having grown up on Brisbane’s northside, the trio knew what was and wasn’t available that side of town. So when the site next door to Lisa’s beauty salon became available, it made sense to create what was missing. Lisa wanted a store where she could sell homewares and trinkets. Emma was fascinated with coffee. The resulting cafe and shop is the homeliest space north of the river.

At the front, you’ll find ceramic pots, hanging terrariums, pom-pom flags and plants. Walk past that and you’re in for a menu of simple staples, such as granola; savoury bacon and egg muffins; and smashed avocado on toast. A cake cabinet contains Bliss Balls from West End’s Miss Bliss, and raw cakes from Raw Lovely Too.

Coffee is Abrisca Coffee’s Premium, an eight-bean blend roasted in East Brisbane. There’s also a single-origin option; and soft-drink spiders if you’re feeling nostalgic.
