Gerard’s Bar
First came Gerard’s Bistro, then Gerard’s Bar. Located just a few steps behind the original establishment, the bar is a good candidate for a pre-dinner aperitif or post-dinner digestif, whether or not you’re planning to hit the Bistro.
John and Elie Moubarak’s Moubment Group (The Defiant Duck, The Apo) opened Gerard’s Bar to offer an extensive range of charcuterie, tapas and cocktails.
The casual atmosphere is promoted by the sleek, polished concrete bar that runs along the entire venue and offers plenty of spots to sit. The front deck also has ample seating, good for enjoying the bar’s signature cocktail, Gerard, The Drunk (vodka, passionfruit, pomegranate and rose water). Otherwise there’s Australian, Spanish and Italian wine, or something from the bar’s range of Spanish sherries and ports.
Tapas and small share plates make up the menu with more than 18 different types of salume available (including the most prized of all, Jamon Iberico de Belotta) which are displayed in the front window cabinet. The bar also offers a range of cheeses, preserves, patés and terrines.
Try the Wagyu cheeseburger – beef and bacon ground into a patty and cooked sous vide before being quickly torched and served on a brioche bun with butter lettuce, American cheese and secret sauce. It's one of the best burgers in town.
