Brewdog Fortitude Valley
There’s no shortage of craft beer brewpubs in the Valley. And Scottish brewer Brewdog’s taproom on Brunswick Street is another impressive stop along your Valley pub crawl itinerary.
Spaced over three levels in the heritage-listed Tranberg House, this Brewdog has 60 taps in total and capacity for 400 people. The fit-out is industrial, with much of the building’s original furnishings still intact. There’s lots of exposed timber, hardwood floors and concrete features, which are offset by plush lounges and booth seating.
On the ground level sits the main bar with a handful of pinball machines, while downstairs is the kitchen and a bar made from a converted shipping container. On the top floor is a bright, airy bar space, which can be booked for functions, along with two shuffleboard tables that have come from Oche, two blocks away on Constance Street. Those interactive games are a signature of Brewdog’s 100 venues worldwide.
The tap list includes a host of Brewdog beers that are all brewed at Dogtap, such as the Punk XPA, the Hazy Jane New England IPA and the Elvis Juice IPA, alongside guest beers from local breweries like Parched, Revel and Range. There’s also a selection of cocktails, wines, spirits and non-alcoholic drinks.
The food menu is slightly shorter than that at the Brewdog Dogtap mothership in Murarrie, but the focus is still primarily on burgers and wings. For burgers, there are popular options such as the Patriot, with a seven-ounce beef patty, cheese, smoked bacon, pickles, onions, baby gem lettuce and barbeque sauce; and the Cluck Norris, with crispy fried chicken, avocado, red onion, Cajun mayo and coriander. Wings might include buffalo wings, Korean fried wings and dry-rub wings. Outside of that, there are grazing options, pizza, salads, and plant-based burgers built using former Urbane chef Alejandro Cancino’s Veef patties.
