Gypsies Wagon
Gypsies Wagon is the coming together of two worlds. On one hand, it’s an American diner and a boutique bar with a dark and cosy vibe. But on the other, even cooler hand, it’s an extension of your lounge room.
Owners Steve and Corinne Hansell opened the night time venture after being persuaded by regulars at their cafe next door, Hansell and Gretel. An average evening at Gypsies will see these folks in the back bar sinking drinks and playing board games, or lounging on the veranda.
The house specialty is pisco sour, a popular Peruvian cocktail consisting of pisco (white grape spirit), egg white and lime. You’ll also find a solid range of beer, wine and spirits, with whisky getting particular love.
The menu offers American cuisine with a Latin American twist. Double fried chicken, burgers, fries and wings all appear. The bar’s legendary Argentinian gaucho jerky and housemade sauces and rubs are available to take home.
