The Gettin’ Place
Features
Carmela and Bo Stahlman know there’s an art to establishing a great cafe. When the two visual artists and hospitality veterans opened The Gettin’ Place in 2014, they envisioned a welcoming space for people to get their fill of good things – from tasty food and coffee, to gorgeous local crafts.
Situated on a quiet stretch of James Street, The Gettin’ Place draws a varied crowd that reflects the diversity of its neighbourhood. Seating inside is minimal but cosy, and on sunny days (which, let’s face it, is most of the time in Brisbane), you can pop out back to the secluded courtyard and soak up some rays over a cup of smooth Toby’s Estate coffee.
The menu gets maximum mileage from the cafe’s small open kitchen. Delicious and delightfully presented dishes include cherry tomato bruschetta served with a boiled egg; and avocado smash with coriander, lemon, olive oil and herb salad topping. Sweet tooths are sorted with a freshly baked brownie or cupcake.
After you've eaten, check out the rotating display of goods for sale, from prints and pottery, to tea towels and terrariums. This is The Gettin’ Place indeed.
