Finishing The Little Larder’s herbivore breakfast can be quite a task. But if you can’t polish it all off, don’t worry, a neighbouring chicken named Pumpkin visits the cafe most days to peck at scraps (and pose for your Instagram snaps).

Most dishes are seasonal, but mainstays include a crispy mushroom and parmesan polenta with poached eggs, and the mighty Larder breakfasts (herbivore or omnivore). For late risers, the breakfast menu is served all day, but it runs into some competition come lunchtime, when smoked salmon salads and dishes of prawn pappardelle are also up for grabs.

Booze up the affair by cracking a beverage after 10am, when BYO kicks in. Otherwise staff will bring you a Toby's Estate coffee, fresh juice or superfood smoothie.

As it names suggests, The Little Larder’s quarters are diminutive, but every inch of space is put to good use. Indoor seating is limited, but most visitors opt to dine out front, where Pumpkin can often be found pottering about. She has proven so popular that she’s now immortalised on the walls of the cafe by a graffiti artist.
