Settimo
Settimo is celebrity chef Guy Grossi’s tribute to the Amalfi Coast. Inspired by his memories of the region (and the spirit of Sophia Loren) the 150-seat restaurant serves up traditional Campanian dishes and wines in a sophisticated setting. Grossi is also behind Florentino and Alta Trattoria in Melbourne, as well as Garum in Perth. There’s a common thread between his venues: he likes to highlight specific regions in Italy.
At Settimo, Grossi’s love for the Amalfi Coast shines through in the menu – which might feature gnocchi alla Sorrentina, pasta al limone or scialatielli all’amalfitana. Wines from the Campania region are a focus, too with varieties like fiano, falanghina, biancolella and aglianico featuring. The wine list also draws from other wine regions in Italy, and favours Australian and New Zealand winemakers putting their own spin on Italian varietals. Also on the menu are Italian-influenced cocktails, a limoncello spritz and a large selection of digestifs.
The Mills Gorman-designed space has a relaxed sophistication that captures the Amalfi Coast’s vibrant and colourful feel. Its bright colours and natural features are reflected by the pops of blue and yellow, terracotta, and timber touches. It feels fun, rather than pretentious, which is exactly what Grossi was after.
