Brooklyn Depot landed on Grey Street in 2016, after first opening on the Gold Coast and in Sydney.

From the street it’s a fetching kaleidoscope of neon and moodily lit corners. Booths and long benches capture the spirit of the classic New York diner. A clutch of street and subway signs, and bi-fold windows, make the space flow seamlessly from one area to the next.

Burgers range from the Classic (grass-fed beef, American cheese, oak-leaf lettuce, tomato, Depot special sauce), through to the more unique Fuhgeddaboudit! (beef, beef chilli, American cheese, onion rings, chilli relish), which comes with a syringe of hot sauce.

There are also shared plates (mac’n’cheese, charred corn), sides of chicken wings, fries, salsa, onion rings and slaw, salads and coma-inducing desserts (Do-My-Nut sundae, double-waffle ice-cream sandwich).

There’s a small selection of local and American beers, wines, spirits and hand-spun milkshakes. Cocktails are the focus, though. Take the Cavill-Tini: vodka, peach liqueur, apple juice, fresh passion fruit, lime, watermelon and fairy floss.

Delivery is available for West End, Highgate Hill, South Brisbane and Dutton Park. It also does takeaway.
