What if you could celebrate like it’s Oktoberfest all year round? That’s the idea behind Munich Brauhaus, a two-level beer hall from the Rockpool Dining Group. It’s intended as a traditional Bavarian experience.

Munich Brauhaus Brisbane is the third venue since the original opened in The Rocks in Sydney in 1976. Despite its success it was almost 40 years before a second venue opened in Melbourne.

The 900-seat venue in the heritage-listed Allgas Building has a main dining hall and beer garden downstairs, and two large private function rooms upstairs.

The build uses the pre-existing characteristics of the building, such as the exposed brickwork and beams. There are picnic-style timber tables, wooden logs, greenery and touches of blue to create the look of a German beer hall.

Rockpool Dining Group’s head of culinary, Neil Perry, worked on the food menu, which features a range of schnitzels, sausages and its signature crispy pork knuckle with creamy mash, sauerkraut and bier jus.

There are 36 beer taps. A large number are German-style beers made by Rockpool Dining Group’s Urban Craft Brewing Co, but there’s also a selection of German-made ambers.
