Rising festival sadly didn’t go ahead as planned, but a handful of its bigger installations have continued in other guises, including A Miracle Constantly Repeated, Patricia Piccinini’s takeover of the rarely-seen Flinders Street Station Ballroom (see Broadsheet’s full photo gallery here).

The show, which has pulled nearly 20,000 visitors, was due to end on August 31. This morning that date was officially extended to January 16, 2022. Tickets for dates from September 1 onwards will be released tomorrow, July 30, at 10am.

“In an era marked by cancellations, shortened seasons and sudden ends, we are so delighted by the degree to which audiences have embraced this stunning exhibition by one of Australia’s foremost artists,” Rising co-artistic director Hannah Fox says. “That we are able to extend the season for A Miracle Constantly Repeated, ensuring more people get to experience this incredible space, while continuing to draw visitors back to the CBD as the city continues to recover and rebuild, is all the more gratifying”.

This is the first time in 30 years that the ballroom and surrounding rooms have been open to the public. As visitors explore the decrepit spaces – some still dotted with forgotten filing cabinets – they can scan QR codes to access an audio tour recorded by Piccinini herself.

A Miracle Constantly Repeated will run until January 16, 2022.
