Menu - Mr Yum

In this town, it's hard for South East Asian restaurants to stand out. Tom Phat has managed to stay relevant and continues to set itself aside from the culinary pack, by focusing on an area usually ignored by Asian-fusion restaurants: breakfast.

It combines a myriad of Asian cuisine, that sways towards Thai, with a modern Australian flair. The merit of this approach is most evident in the signature wok-tossed roti omelet. Populated with bacon, chives and roasted tomato salsa, the dish is satisfying, hangover-curing Sunday morning fare with an exotic twist.

Uncle Ho’s Breakfast, a grilled marinated pork chop with crispy-fried egg, tomato, cucumber and rice, is another great alternative to the traditional fry-up.

The restaurant’s lunch and dinner offerings are equally creative and can be accompanied with soothing smoothies and juices if the spicy offerings become too overwhelming. There are "Phat Tacos"; vibrant salads; and curries ranging from earthy to floral.

The cultural fusion is reflected throughout Tom Phat’s decor, with its polished concrete walls balanced by bonsais and minature Buddhas. Fusion cuisine requires a delicate balance between creativity and restraint, and Tom Phat delivers on both counts. If you're keen to kick on after your meal, head next door to Bah Phat for a drink.
