Antara 128
All-day spot Antara 128 stretches the limits of a traditional bakery. In the mornings bakers Didiet Radityawan (ex-Streat) and Michael James (ex-Tivoli Road) turn out sourdough and laminated pastries, which are available alongside breakfast.
Later on, head chef Allan Doert-Eccles (formerly of Andrew McConnell’s Trader House group) takes over for lunch and dinner, offering refined dishes like Wagyu short rib brushed with a beer-and-malt glaze; woodfired clams with borlotti beans, celery and guanciale; and conchiglie pasta with confit duck leg, mushroom broth and broad beans. The woodfired oven touches most of the menu items, from the smoky clams for mains to the sweet apple tart for dessert.
The business comes from the increasingly influential Hotel Windsor Group, which also runs Sunda, Aru and Kudo. Kerstin Thompson Architects, which designed Sunda and Aru, got the job here too, creating a mezzanine level with a dough room and a panoramic open kitchen.
