Koi Dessert Bar
Reynold Poernomo rose to fame as a fan favourite on season seven of Masterchef Australia in 2015, wowing viewers with his artful desserts. Shortly after his run on the show, the “dessert king” opened Koi Dessert Bar in Sydney with his brothers Ronald and Arnold Poernomo, who is a judge on Masterchef Indonesia, and their mother, chef Ike Malada.
Now, the family finally runs Koi Dessert Bar in Melbourne. The team offers celebration cakes designed to serve a group as well as smaller cakes and desserts. Expect a changing line-up of over 150 different desserts, including Melbourne exclusives. The Melbourne cakes might include the Carlton, which uses pandan, coconut, mango and almond; the Bananas, made using mis, vanilla, salted caramel and of course bananas; and the NGK, which is short for “National Gallery of Koi” and uses mirabelle plum, apricot, mint and ume.
There’s also a dessert dining concept, where guests will be able to dine in the kitchen on a selection of desserts and watch the kitchen team in action.
