Touchwood

Your first impression of Touchwood is that of its sheer size. Then you notice the spacious adjoining back room through the wide, brick archway. Then you discover the sunny, open courtyard out the back with 40 more seats.

This expanse would lead you to think that whoever's running this place isn't really partial to small steps, and you'd be right. The collection of minds originally behind Touchwood have, between them, also been responsible for institutions like Coin Laundry, Station Street Trading Co., Tall Timber and Pillar of Salt.

The menu is similarly ambitious, both when you consider individual dishes and all of them as a group. Want a beetroot latte? It's here. Decadent wholemeal waffles with fresh berries, banana, candied bacon crumb and maple syrup? Also here. Shakshuka, avo toast, cheeseburger? Of course.

Coffee is by 5 Senses (done any way you can imagine it) and is pulled from an impressive custom-made Synesso Hydra with a mean-looking matte black finish. You need something a little menacing when you’re facing 120 customers in need of caffeine.
