From 11.59pm on Thursday October 21, when Melbourne’s lockdown ends, the 15-kilometre travel limit will be scrapped, and we’ll be free to move across metro Melbourne unrestricted.

But what exactly does that mean for your potential weekend travel plans?

While travel from metro Melbourne into regional Victoria still won’t be allowed for the time being, hundreds of day-trip-worthy destinations are still within reach.

Metro Melbourne is made up of 31 local government areas, the full list of which you can find here, alongside a handy user-friendly map, which should clear up any confusion about the areas that are on and off the cards.

In the east you can travel as far as the Yarra Ranges, which incorporates Four Pillars’ Healesville home and surrounding parts of the Yarra Valley, while in the south you can travel as far as Portsea at the pointy end of the Mornington Peninsula. The western edge includes the LGAs of Melton and Wyndham, and the northern-most LGA is Whittlesea.

The Covid-19 situation is evolving and public health requirements are still subject to change.
