As promised last week, Acting Premier James Merlino has announced a further relaxation of Melbourne’s restrictions, with the changes to be in place for two weeks.

He shared the news in a press conference on Wednesday, given the state recorded zero new locally acquired cases of coronavirus overnight – a so-called “donut day”. “We are taking some big steps forward,” the Acting Premier said.

From 11.59pm tomorrow, Thursday June 24, the home-gathering limit will increase from two people per day (plus dependents) to 15 per day (including dependents). And the public-gathering limit will increase to 50 people.
