As of 3.45pm today, the Victorian Department of Health is yet to make a statement or update its list of Covid-19 exposure sites, but management at Brunswick’s busy Barkly Square shopping centre has confirmed that a person infected with coronavirus visited the centre recently.

“Barkly Square Centre Management has received notification the centre has been listed as a tier 2 Covid-19 public exposure site by the Victorian Department of Health and Human Services,” the centre said in a statement issued on its website and social media pages. “We have been advised the affected individual was present at the centre on Saturday, 22 May between 1.15pm and 2.30pm.

“The individual is understood to have attended the following retailers: Priceline Pharmacy, OPSM, Kmart and Woolworths. As a result, the impacted retailers have notified all staff members who have been in close contact with the individual to isolate for 14 days, and a comprehensive deep clean of their tenancies will now be undertaken.

“Centre management continues to monitor the situation, and are following all relevant advice and guidance by the Department of Health and Human Services with regards to Covid-19. The safety and wellbeing of our customers, retailers and the community is always our priority.”

People who visited the centre during this time should get tested for Covid immediately and isolate until they receive a negative test result.
