A week after access to the Astra Zeneca vaccine was expanded to include 18- to 39-year-olds – and a couple of days after Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews shared his plan for “one million jabs into one million arms” over the next five weeks – at a press conference on Sunday Andrews announced a new round of vaccination appointments.
In addition to the 200,000 appointments added recently, a further 84,000 became available on Sunday for Victorians wanting to get vaccinated sooner. They are for the Astra Zeneca and Pfizer vaccines, depending on your eligibility.
And, from today, any Victorian aged between 18 and 39 is able to get the Astra Zeneca vaccine at any state-run vaccination centre. It comes in the wake of a trial at nine sites that resulted in more than 22,000 Victorians within that age bracket being vaccinated with Astra Zeneca in five days.

Research has proven both the Astra Zeneca and Pfizer vaccines to be effective in mitigating the effects of Covid-19. But on top of that, getting vaccinated is one of the best ways to help the state – and the country – bounce back. It’ll help to avoid serious illness, and lessen all the tumult that comes with the pandemic: lockdowns, social distancing, limited capacities and more.
