When the pandemic hit, global rideshare service Uber turned off its Uber Pool function, which allowed users to share their ride with other passengers heading in a similar direction and split the fare, saving up to half the cost of the trip.

But now, with Covid restrictions eased, it’s back up and running in Melbourne. And it’s a win – is it just us or do Ubers feel particularly expensive at the moment?

By selecting Uber Pool, you can now get up to 30 per cent off the upfront fare. And Uber says that, even with additional pick-ups and drop-offs, you shouldn’t arrive more than five to 10 minutes later than if you were in a regular Uber.

Plus, to celebrate the relaunch, there’s a special offer. Ride with Uber Pool before 11.59pm on Tuesday May 17 to score a guaranteed 25 per cent – a maximum of $15 – off the upfront fare. If others join the ride, you could save up to 30 per cent more.
