More than 92 per cent of Victorians eligible to be vaccinated are now double-dosed, and the state government has made some changes to the rules around vaccine mandates.

In a press conference on Wednesday morning, health minister Martin Foley announced the easing of restrictions, to come into effect from 11.59pm tonight.

The vaccine mandate will be removed for customers in most non-essential retail settings, except hair and beauty services. The requirement will also be removed for places of worship, weddings and funerals, plus real-estate settings.

The current mask rules will remain in place – except for weddings, funerals and other ceremonial settings, where they will no longer be needed.

Changes have also been made to who needs to show proof of vaccination. Under-18s will no longer be required to prove their vaccination status at all venues, including hospitality.
