From 6pm on Friday February 18, Victoria’s coronavirus restrictions are easing.

Premier Daniel Andrews announced the news in a press conference on Thursday morning.

In big news for hospitality and entertainment venues, density limits put in place to deal with the Omicron surge will be removed. Indoor dance floors at these venues can also reopen.

Meanwhile, the QR check-in requirement will be removed for retail and schools, and for employees in many workplaces, but will remain in place in settings where vaccination is mandatory (such as restaurants, cafes and bars) – “where the vaccinated economy is still on and it remains in place with a two-dose rule,” Andrews said.

While no changes were announced in relation to indoor mask rules and the work-from-home recommendation, Andrews said an update is to come in the following weeks.
