Victoria’s five-day statewide lockdown will end at midnight tonight, as planned. But some restrictions are staying in place.
Premier Daniel Andrews announced the news in a press conference on Wednesday morning, after the state recorded zero new cases of coronavirus.
The four reasons to leave home – and the five-kilometre lockdown radius – will no longer apply. But from midnight tonight, masks will remain mandatory indoors and outdoors when you cannot physically distance.

SIGN UPHospitality venues – including restaurants, cafes and bars – as well as retail will be able to reopen, with the same density limits that were in place last week.
Home-gathering limits will be reduced to five people, and public gatherings will be limited to 20 from any number of households. Schools will reopen, and public- and private-sector offices can operate at 50 per cent.
Religious gatherings and ceremonies will return with the density limits that applied pre-lockdown. Funerals and weddings will have no limits on numbers, so long as the venue’s density requirements are adhered to.
Sport and recreation activities can go ahead with density quotas in place. And, on a “case-by-case basis” and with caps in place, Andrews said, entertainment and public events can resume.
