Yesterday, Premier Daniel Andrews confirmed Victoria’s statewide lockdown will be extended beyond 11.59pm tonight. But he was unable to offer a new timeframe or any specifics around potential new rules.

“As promising as our progress has been, avoiding a New South Wales-style long, lengthy, very challenging lockdown where you just lose control of cases, we’ve avoided that,” Andrews said in a press conference. “But we need more time.

The extension comes as Victoria records 13 new locally acquired cases in the past 24 hours, taking the total to 85 active cases, Andrews said.
