Victoria’s five-day statewide lockdown was supposed to end at 11.59pm on Tuesday. But, in a press conference on Monday morning, Premier Daniel Andrews announced that wouldn’t be the case.
While Andrews was unable to offer a new timeframe or any specifics around potential new rules, he said:
“We will not be ready to lift this lockdown at midnight tomorrow night.”
“We are running alongside this virus, but we are not yet out in front of it,” Andrews added. “If you think about it like a fire, we have a containment line and are making significant progress, but it is not out yet.”
