Hot tubs are hot property. But some serious money – and maintenance – can be required if you want one to call your own.

That’s where Geelong-based business Ember Hot Tubs, which started in 2020, comes in. Its beautiful timber hot tubs are bespoke, woodfired, portable and available to hire.

“It started as a fun concept,” says co-owner Dan Lansdown. “[Was] it possible to create experiences of woodfired bathing that can be enjoyed almost anywhere in nature?” Indeed it was.

All you need to do is choose your location and book your preferred size online. (There are three on offer: for two, four or six to eight people.) Then, if you’re in Melbourne or Geelong, it’ll be dropped off and set up – then packed up and whisked away, by one of the Ember team.

If you’re elsewhere, it’ll be delivered to a nearby depot for you to set up yourself. Landsdown says one person can assemble it in half an hour – with no tools required. Plus, you can add on a crate of firewood, which will allow for eight hours of heat.

Where you plonk it is totally up to you. Will it be a flash-in-the-pan soak sesh in your backyard? A camping trip with next-level bathing? Or a remote romantic experience?
