After being shuttered for months, Melbourne’s sibling independent film houses Classic in Elsternwick, Lido in Hawthorn and Cameo in Belgrave have announced their outdoor cinemas are reopening on November 2.
On opening night, catch Rams, an Aussie dramedy starring Sam Neill and Michael Caton as sheep-farming brothers caught up in a decades-long feud. Also on the bill: An American Pickle, with Seth Rogen playing a Jewish factory worker preserved in pickle brine for 100 years; David Fincher’s drama Mank, set in 1930s Hollywood; and Glenn Close and Amy Adams in Ron Howard’s Hillbilly Elegy, which is already generating Oscars buzz. Martin Scorsese’s mobster classic GoodFellas will also be screening.
At each venue – Classic Rooftop Cinema, Lido on the Roof, and Cameo Outdoor Cinema – new coronavirus restrictions will be in place. Masks will be required, and you can expect socially distanced seating, reduced capacities and contactless payments only.
