It was Megahertz versus Rockdogs when much-loved grassroots footy game, the Reclink Community Cup, made its triumphant return to Melbourne over the weekend.

The 2020 and 2021 instalments were both Covid casualties, so it was the first kick-off since 2019 for the charity game, which pits local media against musicians, for a great cause.

The weather well and truly turned it on while the Megahertz (made up of players from community radio stations Triple R and PBS) took out the title – by only two points – in front of a crowd of more than 12,000 punters.

Broadsheet photographer Hugh Davison was there to snap all the action – on and off the field – including rousing warm-ups, scarf-wearing pups, a ripper live music line-up and more sequins than you’d usually expect to see at Abbotsford’s Victoria Park.
