Melbourne, it is time to dust off your mallet; Royal Croquet Club is swinging back into town. This summer, Birrarung Marr will again be transformed into a wonderland of free big-name music acts, croquet pitches and a selection of excellent food curated by Broadsheet.
Nina Las Vegas, Touch Sensitive, GRMM, KLP, Running Touch, Lucille Croft, PACES and Poolclvb will take the stage throughout the 10 days of the Royal Croquet Club. On Sunday December 20, local hero Alpine will close out the festival with its sugary harmonies and sweet synths – think of them as a musical dessert.
We’ve picked some of our favourite restaurants to deliver a summer feast for you and your crew. Gazi and Bluebonnet Barbecue will cover those on board the meat-train. Mamasita, Ruyi and Tokyo Tina will also serve a special selection of their favourite dishes, and Pidapipo will cater to all the sweet tooths (or those who like their meals frozen and in a cone).
We think you might like Access. For $12 a month, join our membership program to stay in the know.
SIGN UPUnlike last summer’s festival, which happened in late January, Royal Croquet Club is running until five days before Christmas, so can double as the perfect outdoor venue to let your hair down after a year of hard work. A great selection of food choices, top-notch entertainment and the opportunity for a bit of friendly competition on the croquet pitch certainly beats a barbeque in the local park.
Royal Croquet Club runs from Thursday December 10 until Sunday December 20 at Birrarung Marr. Entry is free.
