With almost 10,000 original pressings for digging, Plug Seven is a record fanatic’s wonderland.

Owner Ari Roze goes overseas to haul back stock, returning with the heady, hallowed and hard-to-find. He’s been digging records for more than 20 years and also runs a ‘60s-era recording studio, a musical passion plastered plainly throughout the shop.

There’s a particular focus on jazz, hip-hop, Afro and soul, though a more-than-ample selection of rock, blues, disco and Latin helps to cater for almost every taste. Roze’s 5000-plus collection of 7-inch singles is perhaps the city’s most comprehensive, some dating all the way back to the ‘50s. Plenty of recent releases and reissues also find their way into the crates, from local and smaller overseas labels.

As the shop continues to grow, attention is developing toward other record-centric products. An expanding collection of handmade accessories is on sale, from shirts and shelves, to vintage posters and HiFi pieces.
