Fitzroy locals and siblings Chris, Ari and Aphrodite Vlahos created the Fitzroy Mills Market for the growing community of health-conscious people in the area. The siblings’ father owned the knitting mill the market is housed in.

The market is held every Saturday and includes live music and other entertainment. First things first, though: breakfast. Industry Beans – also on Rose Street – runs a container cafe, which eases the pressure on its constantly busy main headquarters. The short menu includes two breakfast rolls, a raw salad bowl and some healthy snacks.

Once you’re fed and ready to shop, there are organic free-range eggs from Wild Hen Farm, cheese from the Milawa Cheese Company, raw chocolate by Girl Made Chocolate, baked goods from Cobb Lane, Fury & Son beer and organic veggies from Mossy Willow Farm.

Other stalls – there are 30 all up – sell items such as organic deodorant paste and fresh flowers. There are also treats for your dog at Canine Wellness Kitchen. Dogs are welcome at the market as long as they’re on a leash.
