Brunswick’s Bridie O’Reilly’s Irish pub will serve its last Guinness in April.
“Well, the rumours are true we are sorry to say: Bridies Brunswick has been bought by a developer and the last day we trade will be Sunday April 2 2017 – Bridies will then be turned into apartments!” the pub said on its website.
“As much as this is sad news and the last thing we ever wanted, we want to turn these last few months into the biggest and best goodbye party ever.

The pub, originally called The Sarah Sands, was built in 1852.
Bridie’s was sold to developers in 2015 for about $6 million. The Sydney Morning Herald reported at the time that the developer planned to keep the original building intact as a food venue. There’s no word yet on whether that is still the case, but we hope it is – we can’t afford to lose another historic pub.
