Coles and Woolworths have today announced the return of purchase limits at some of their Victorian stores, in light of the renewed stage-three lockdown.

Toilet paper is restricted to one item per customer at Coles, and two per customer at Woolworths. And at both supermarkets there’s now a two-item limit on hand sanitiser, paper towel, tissues, flour, sugar, pasta, mince meat, milk, eggs, rice, frozen food and more.

The limits apply to all Woolworths stores across the state, and to Coles stores in locked-down areas in metropolitan Melbourne and Mitchell Shire.

“The move follows a surge in demand across Victoria overnight and will help ensure more customers have fair access to fresh food and essentials,” a statement by Woolworths reads. And it comes just one day after the supermarket giant lifted limits on all products except toilet paper.

The limits also apply to online orders.
