You couldn’t have picked a more suitable weekend for indulging in delicious frozen treats. The sun blazed for the first time since last summer and people flocked to the new Collingwood Arts Precinct for the Connoisseur Food and Design Weekend by Broadsheet.

The pair behind New York’s favourite ice-cream – Sam Mason and Mohan Kumar from OddFellows – had flown to Melbourne especially to serve the flavours they collaborated on with Connoisseur. Sandwiched between biscuits made by Tuck Shop Take Away, the ice-cream was always going to be the weekend’s hot ticket.

Handmade jewellery by Kitiya Palaskas, Kitsu, Georgie Cummings and Emily Green proved popular Christmas gifts and the Nice Digs stall was a hit with four-legged visitors and their two-legged friends. Saturday morning visitors picked up seeds from Little Veggie Patch Co. and plants from Cool Cactus for a weekend of gardening. Arro Home, Sklepp, Alison Turnbull and Alchemy Produx ensured homes were looking (and smelling) as beautiful as possible, while Minna Gilligan gave wardrobes a colourful update.

Bowery to Williamsburg served Reuben sandwiches and next-door, Shawcross Pizza dished out loaded slices bigger than your face. Nieuw Amsterdam’s mac‘n’cheese waffles were a favourite, as were 5 & Dime’s bagels. Royal Road Coffee Cart served coffee from its cute blue caravan, doing a brisk trade in iced-lattes.

Thanks to everyone who came down to enjoy the sunshine with us at the Connoisseur Food and Design Weekend by Broadsheet.
