Good Heavens, the rooftop bar above Fancy Hank's on Bourke Street, opened at the start of December after a short, weather-related delay. Just in time for summer.
The bar menu continues the Americana theme of the barbeque restaurant downstairs – there are $9 cheeseburgers; nachos with brisket mole; fried cauliflower with vegan ranch dressing; and artichoke dip with crudités.
Ten taps pour craft beer, including a collaboration with Collingwood’s Stomping Ground brewery. There’s also an impressive list of craft beer by the bottle, with pilsners, sours and more from Australia but also New Zealand, the US and plenty from Europe.

The list is littered with old favourites such as a Harvey Wallbanger, Mai Tai and Pina Colada, although each has been given an upgrade: the rum for the Pina Colada has been coconut-fat-washed, for example, and the downstairs smoker is being used to smoke syrups.
“The vibe we’re going for is Fancy Hanks goes on holiday, so a Miami or Palm Springs vibe, lots of pastel, ’70s- and ’80s-inspired cocktails,” says co-owner Mike Patrick. “It’s going to be super fun. Just good times.”
DJs play each weekend, and the space can fit up to 200 people.
