Melbourne Food & Wine Festival (MFWF) has just announced the postponement of its winter edition.

Initially set to run from August 20 to 29, the festival’s flagship instalment will now be held from October 1 to 10, due to the limitations of the post-lockdown restrictions.

“The current Covid-19 restrictions do not allow us to run the program in its intended format to ensure a successful festival for industry partners and a safe event for our guests,” Anthea Loucas Bosha – CEO of Food & Drink Victoria, the not-for-profit parent company behind MFWF – said in a statement.

“While we are naturally disappointed, we look forward to celebrating the very best this city has to offer with a program of more than 150 events across 10 days in October around Melbourne, including our new festival hub at the Queen Victoria Market.”

The winter program featured a number of events from the 2020 program that weren’t able to go ahead then either, due to a postponement at the onset of the pandemic. That includes Maximum Chips, a night of all-you-can-eat hot chips; the Big Spaghetti, a mammoth pasta party with 20 different pasta dishes from 10 stalls; and a next-level convenience store with grab-and-go food and cocktails from top Victorian spots.

The festival says it will be sorting out ticketing arrangements – refunds included – with ticketholders and industry partners in the coming weeks.

Melbourne Food & Wine Festival Winter Edition will now run from October 1 to 10. Keep an eye on the website for further updates.
