The name Sardi takes inspiration from the first names of original owners Sarah Whitfield and Dimitri Dean. These days it's owned by Angadh Oberoi.

Oberoi hasn’t changed much about the split-personality concept. Whether you’re eating healthily or indulgently, the menu has you covered; and everything is a work of art. The acai smoothie bowl is lined with strawberries, kiwis, housemade granola, chia and goji berries in ruler-like precision. French toast made from banana bread is garnished with maple-roasted pears, salted caramel, almond crumble and edible flowers.

Lunch could be a superfood bowl or southern-fried chicken burger with sweet potato fries, paired with a matcha latte or an Oreo shake. The choice to be healthy is up to you, but you can’t say Sardi doesn’t try.

If you’re peering through the front window the cafe may seem small, but the wooden tables and rickety white chairs continue into a second, quieter room. Lights hang in caged fittings, and pillows add a pop of colour. Sit at the breakfast bar next to a tempting collection of sweets, or on the banquette under the paintings for sale by local artist Hayley June Walker.
