Is your name David? Great news if it is. David’s is offering free yum cha to all Davids in winter – simply show your ID to redeem. The offer is only available for the Saturday lunch service, with one David per booking.

David Zhou’s eponymous restaurant has undergone several transformations over the years. It’s gone from a humble tea warehouse with a single table to a pioneer of contemporary Shanghainese cuisine in Melbourne. These days, after more than 20 years in business, Zhou and his team are focused on casual, family-friendly dining inspired by Shanghai’s countryside.

The extensive à la carte menu has gifts from the garden to the sea, including a number of dishes unlikely to be found anywhere else in the city, such as mapo tofu dumplings and tempura cauliflower with plum sauce. But many visit David’s for the ever-popular weekend yum cha service, which features 15 dishes including a signature vegetable fried rice.
